For regular maintenance, sweep or vacuum hardwood floors with a soft brush attachment 2-3 times per week to remove dirt and debris. For deeper cleaning, use a manufacturer-approved hardwood floor cleaner with a microfiber mop once a week. In high-traffic areas, you may need to clean more frequently. Always clean spills immediately to prevent damage to the wood.

No, steam mops are not recommended for luxury vinyl flooring. The heat and moisture from steam mops can potentially damage the adhesive that holds the vinyl in place, cause the planks to warp, or penetrate through seams and damage the subfloor. Instead, use a pH-neutral cleaner specifically designed for vinyl flooring with a microfiber mop for regular cleaning.
For carpet stains, act quickly by first blotting (not rubbing) the spill with clean, white cloths or paper towels to absorb as much liquid as possible. For water-soluble stains, apply a mixture of mild dish soap and warm water with a clean cloth, working from the outside of the stain toward the center. For tougher stains, use a manufacturer-approved carpet stain remover following the product instructions. Always test any cleaning solution in an inconspicuous area first.
For regular cleaning of grout lines, use a soft-bristled brush with a mixture of warm water and pH-neutral tile cleaner. For deeper cleaning of stained grout, make a paste with baking soda and water, apply it to the grout lines, let it sit for 10-15 minutes, then scrub with a soft brush and rinse thoroughly. For very stubborn stains, oxygen bleach products designed for grout can be effective. Avoid acidic cleaners like vinegar on cement-based grout as they can cause deterioration over time.
To prevent scratches on hardwood floors, place felt pads under furniture legs and replace them regularly as they wear down. Use area rugs in high-traffic zones and at entrances to catch dirt and debris. Remove shoes, especially high heels, when walking on hardwood floors. Keep pets’ nails trimmed and clean their paws after outdoor activities. Use floor protectors under rolling chairs or replace the wheels with soft rubber options. Lift furniture rather than dragging it when rearranging your space.
